The Brexit vote result caused much consternation in many areas of the entertainment world, but most artists who spoke out about it seemed to be against Britain leaving the EU.
Not so for Ringo Starr, who says that he was in favour of Brexit and explained why in a new interview with Bloomberg.
“I voted for Brexit, because I thought the European Union was a great idea, but I didn’t see it going anywhere lately," said the former Beatle, who lives in Los Angeles. "It’s in shambles and we’re all stuck with people who want to make arrangements for their own country and don’t think for the other countries. Britain should be out and get back on its own feet.”
The 76-year-old added: "Now Scotland wants to leave and Wales wants to leave. Then it will be Devon. God knows where it will end", despite a majority of people in Wales voting in favour of Brexit.
In the same interview, he also claimed that if The Beatles were an active band today, they would still be touring.
