Former Manic Street Preachers guitarist Richey Edwards has been officially declared 'presumed dead', over 13 years after he went missing.
A spokesperson for the band said that it was a 'highly emotional' decision for his family to make, but that they had finally sought a court order that changed Edwards's official legal status. They had previously refused to take the option of declaring the guitarist dead after seven years, but told the WalesOnline website that their decision was 'an acceptance that his affairs have got to be sorted.'
It is believed that Manic Street Preachers still split their songwriting royalties four ways, which means that Edwards's estate is worth over £455,000 and will be controlled by his parents.
