A series of cryptic clues on Thom Yorke's Twitter page seemed to indicate that he was working on something. Fans were hoping, praying almost, that this would lead to news of a new Radiohead album. Well, today those prayers were answered.
Rumours have been rampant in recent weeks that Radiohead would soon announce a follow-up record to 2011's The King of Limbs and those rumours have today been confirmed by Yorke who indicated that that preparations for the band's ninth record were well underway.
Radiohead members Jonny Greenwood and Phil Selway had both indicated recently that they were due to return to the studio but, due to the band's members fondness for working on several different projects simultaneously, this couldn't exactly be seen as a concrete indication that a new Radiohead record was incoming.
There still isn't any timeframe for the next Radiohead album, just the acknowledgement that their next release will be original material instead of a remix or greatest hits album.
However long the process takes, we're very excited to hear what comes from the band - consistently one of music's most interesting and thought-provoking acts.
