Legendary psychedelic rockers Pink Floyd are suing their own label, EMI, over royalties, reports The Observer.
The band have been signed to EMI since 1967, but now claim that the label has miscalculated royalties owed to them through sales of their back catalogue, and have filed a lawsuit to reclaim the money. The amount in question has not been disclosed to the public.
Industry insiders have suggested that this claim was likely sparked by routine royalty negotiations that take place every three years. Some say it is symptomatic of the strained relationship between EMI and some of their leading acts since ownership of the label was transferred to Guy Hand's Terra Firma in 2007, a move that prompted the departure of huge acts like Radiohead and Paul McCartney.
