After Taylor Swift made Apple crumble (sorry, not sorry) one photographer has bit back at the superstar, accusing her of double standards.
The singer's open letter to Apple made them row back on their decision not to pay musicians whose music was streamed during the free three month trials of their new streaming service, but photographer Jason Sheldon has hit back, claiming that she is a "hypocrite".
In an open letter, he outlines the restrictions placed on photographers by Swift and her management whereby they are only paid once for their photo, and all the rights to it are the given to them, without the photographer being able to make use of their own work again.
He states that if photographers want to work at a Swift concert, then they have to sign the contract, but that it constitutes "a complete rights grab, and demands that you are granted free and unlimited use of our work, worldwide, in perpetuity", adding "if you don’t like being exploited, that’s great — make a huge statement about it, and you’ll have my support. But how about making sure you’re not guilty of the very same tactic before you have a pop at someone else?".
Swift's representatives have hit back, stating that the claims made in the post are false and that the agreement does not transfer copyright away from the photographer, and that "the standard photography agreement has been misrepresented" in the letter.
