In the late eighties, Perry Farrell's hedonistic lifestyle prompted Rolling Stone to predict his premature death. Happily the former frontman of rock bands Jane's Addiction and Pornos For Pyros is alive and well and enjoying a creative renaissance as a solo performer. The new Farrell is a much calmer figure and, thankfully, a more coherent one too. Song Yet To Be Sung is an entertaining collection of new age fusion music with jungle drum patterns and droning sitars topped off by Farrell's dramatically self-important vocals. It's flawed to say the least, but also consistently interesting and should at least guarantee Farrell a more dignified future.
