If you've been spending the last few Fridays watching The Late Late Show, you'll be aware that there have been some really special live performances recently.
Given the limited opportunities for full bands to play sets on the show, a number of Irish artists have been giving acoustic performances of both their own songs and some well-known covers.
They include Glen Hansard and Colm Mac Con Iomaire playing 'Falling Slowly', Gavin James's take on 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' and most recently, Dermot Kennedy's cover of the Van Morrison song 'Days Like This', which went down a treat on Friday. Even Brendan Gleeson and his son Fergus played the Dubliners' song 'A Pint of Plain is Your Only Man'.
The one that attracted the most attention to date was Hozier's take on 'The Parting Glass', which has been released as a single in aid of the ISPCC - but now people are calling on RTE to release a live album of all the recordings that have taken place during this unprecedented time.
You have to admit, it would probably raise a lot of money for charity to help those in need right now.
The Late Late Show during COVID19:
Hozier - Parting Glass
Gavin James - Over the Rainbow
Coronas - Heroes or Ghosts
Glen Hansard - Falling Slowly
Dermot Kennedy - Days Like This
I really hope they make a charity album out of all these. Its been brilliant.— Adam Higgins (@Adam_Higgins27) April 24, 2020
