Ariana Grande's new music video is coming under fire.
Ariana Grande's new music video, for the single 'break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored', arrives on the same day as the release of her album 'thank u, next'. It involves a 'twist' that was probably a miscalculation on Grande's part.
In the video, Ariana meets a couple in a night club, after which she dances and take shots with them. She also goes to a house party with the young man and woman.
At the end of the vid, it seems that the reason Ariana wanted them to break up was so that she can have the girlfriend, rather than the boyfriend - in the video's final moments, she goes in to kiss her.
Some people have accused the video of 'queerbaiting' because of its 'twist' ending.
They thus went on Twitter to voice their critique.
#ArianaGrande is queerbaiting & using the aesthetic of LGBT intimacy for no reason other than shock value/clicks. Trying to justify it as “representing self-love” is disrespectful to ACTUAL WLW- they don’t have the privilege to benefit while also avoiding the stigma/oppression. pic.twitter.com/XDZ0wZvxB9

Ariana Grande also hit headlines today when she spoke out on Twitter about why she won't be performing at Sunday's Grammys. She released the statement because of an interview Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich gave excusing her. Grande claims Ehrlich was "lying" about what led her to not perform at the awards.
