Yes, you read that headline correctly: a man in Northern Ireland has been jailed for a series of nuisance phone calls that he made to the emergency services, one of which heard him pretending to be hip-hop star Nicki Minaj.

24-year-old Antrim man Steven Brown was judged to have breached his ASBO with the calls - made on Christmas Day in 2014 - and was jailed for four months.

He made two calls, firstly claiming that two men were threatening to kill him. He then rang 999 again five minutes later, saying that wanted to cancel the first call and also that he was Minaj and there was a poltergeist in his house.

Brown, described as a chronic alcoholic by his barrister, was originally sentenced to eight months earlier this year but had his sentence reduced, as Judge Desmond Marrinan QC said although he was a "nuisance", he clearly needed help.
