If ever there was a moment you couldn't have predicted ten, twenty years ago, it's Noel Gallagher having a woman in his band who plays the scissors.
Yet, here we are nonetheless and there's finally some kind of explanation for it. Long story short, Noel Gallagher was taking the piss out of everyone. Gallagher joked with the crowd before the performance on Jools Holland that the music was cutting edge - Noel Gallagher making Dad jokes, people - and explained to i-D that the whole thing was just that.
"Plus she’s French and she’s eccentric to say the least. I said to her, can you play the tambourine? She said, (adopts French accent) ‘I cannot play the tambourine.’ I said, ‘Oh right. Shaker?’ ‘Non. I can play the scissors.’ She brought them in and I was looking at my bass player going, if that’s not the greatest thing you’ve ever seen then tell me what is," said Noel.
"A French bird in a cape playing the scissors? It doesn't get any better than that does it?”
