Rumours of its demise as a paid-for magazine are steadily gathering momentum this week, with many speculating that the fabled music weekly will soon become a freesheet publication - but the annual NME Awards went ahead as planned in London last night, regardless.

Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page was awarded the 'Rock 'n' Roll Soul' award for lifetime achievement, while The Vaccines, Charli XCX, Run the Jewels and more played live.

Foo Fighters also confirmed at the ceremony that they will headline Glastonbury this year.
