Music legend Nile Rodgers, who was in town recently playing the Forbidden Fruit festival with his band Chic, recalled in a recent interview how Madonna was astounded that Rodgers hadn't yet made a move on here.
Rodgers worked with Madonna on her 1984 breakthrough album Like A Virgin and, in an interview with The Sun, said he was confronted by Madonna in an elevator.
"I was standing at an elevator when she goes, 'Why don't you want to fuck me?'", recalled Rodgers. "I was like, 'What did you just say to me?' She was wondering why I had not propositioned her. She couldn't understand that. It was like, 'Everybody wants me'."
Explaining himself, Rodgers told the newspaper that he made it clear to Madonna that it would have been a very bad idea to change their working relationship into a physical one.
Rodgers recalled saying to her: "One time I slept with a really beautiful artist I was working and it was a really wrong thing to do. So, I didn't work like that."
"I grew about as close to Madonna as I've ever been to a woman without being romantically involved. She was the most driven person. The day I met her she said, 'I'm going to be a really big superstar'."
Like A Virgin spawned several hit singles and went on to sell in advance of 20 million copies worldwide.
