It was only the other day that we were talking about Zayn Malik potentially being the first member of One Direction to quit the band, and it seems that day is edging ever closer.

Although Malik has not quit yet the band outright, he left their world tour last night after being "signed off due to stress" and has returned to his home in England.

By all accounts, the source of that "stress" seems to be the accusations that he had been unfaithful to his fianceé, Perrie Edwards of girl group Little Mix. In a picture taken the other day, Malik seemed to be holding hands with an unknown woman, later being pictured with his hand around her bare waist.

It led him to post an angry tweet denying the allegations, but it seems that it's all become a bit much for him.

Malik's departure should not come as much of a shock; in recent times, it has been announced that he has been working with Naughty Boy on his new album, and 50 Cent recently said that he would gladly act as his mentor should he want to pursue a rap career. He was also absent for some of the band's promotional activities in the US last year due to 'illness' and was embroiled in a marijuana-related scandal when he and bandmate Louis Tomlinson were seen smoking a joint on a leaked video.

He is expected to rejoin his bandmates at the end of the month, but that remains to be seen.
