Yoko Ono has said that her late husband, former Beatle John Lennon, desired to have sex with other men.
Although there have been rumours swirling for decades about Lennon and Beatles manager Brian Epstein - who was openly gay - Ono said that she and her husband discussed bisexuality and agreed that people are bisexual beings.
In a new interview with The Daily Beast marking his 75th birthday she said: "John and I had a big talk about it, saying, basically, all of us must be bisexual. And we were sort of in a situation of thinking that we’re not because of society. So we are hiding the other side of ourselves, which is less acceptable. But I don’t have a strong sexual desire towards another woman."
Addressing the rumours about Epstein, she said that the pair "almost" had a love affair, but it was "never consummated". "The story I was told was a very explicit story, and from that I think they didn’t have [sex]," she said. "I’m sure Brian Epstein made a move, yeah... [Lennon] just didn’t want to do it, I think. I think he had a desire to [sleep with men], but I think he was too inhibited."
