The singer had previously hinted that we could expect new material this year, though this doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
Earlier this year a tweet appeared on Adele's official account saying: "Bye bye 25... See you again later in the year". Many people, including ourselves, took this to be as close to an announcement of a new album from the 'Rolling in the Deep' singer, whose previous albums '19' and '21' mirrored the age she was when the records were released.
Not so, it appears. A financial report from Adele's XL Recordings label has revealed that there are no plans to release new material from Adele this year, as per the New York Times.
The document reveals that XL made a profit of $15m this year but stated in no uncertain terms that they expect a decline in income for the rest of the year because of the lack of a new Adele album. It also states that sales of Adele's back catalogue accounts for a "significant portion" of XL's sales and profit in 2013.
'21' sold an amazing 25 million copies across the globe and its follow up is as good as guaranteed to be massive seller when it's released, presumably next year.
