Oasis fans were sent into something of a tizzy last night when a series of mysterious tweets from Liam Gallagher's official account spelled out the word 'Oasis' over the course of a few hours, followed by another tweet reading 'OASIS LG', leading some of the more optimistic fans of the Britpop legends that an unlikely reunion was on the card.

Twitter radio silence followed from Gallagher's account past that point, despite the deluge of questions asking what the deal was, were they getting back together and when fans could see them play. So intense was the speculation as a result of these tweets that both Paddy Power and Ladbrokes suspended better on the chances of the Gallagher brothering reuniting for a headline performance at Glastonbury in June. This all seems feasible, right?

Wrong. The REAL reason for the tweets, according to ex-Oasis guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, was that the former bandmates went out on the piss together last night and that, according to Bonehead, Liam must have been feeling a little nostalgic.

Quoted by NME, Bonehead offered his explanation for the cryptic messages. "Probably the fact that I messages him going, Meet me in the beer garden.' That probably rattled his cage. Maybe that. I don't know though, because I meet him every f*cking month. Maybe he's just reminiscing."

Bonehead later spelled out the word 'P U B' on his own Twitter page.
