Nicki Minaj has been forced to cancel Tuesday's Irish debut show in the Olympia on doctor's orders. The Pink Friday singer was diagnosed with a bruised vocal cord early last week but ignored warnings and played two New York dates, damaging her voice further.

The rapper's vocal condition has now gotten worse and has no choice but to "rest her voice for a few days", according to her rep.

Minaj's Olympia date sold out so quickly that a follow-up date, in The O2 in November, was arranged swiftly but fans will no doubt be dismayed that the opportunity to see one of 2012's biggest pop superstars in an intimate setting is now gone.

Refunds for the cancelled show are available from the point of purchase.
