The former Smiths singer has had a litany of medical woes in the last few years but this is the first time he's acknowledged that he has been diagnosed with cancer.
Morrissey has revealed to Spanish publication El Mundo that he is being treated for the disease.
The newspaper quoted the singer as saying: "They have scraped cancerous tissue four times already, but whatever. If I die, then I die. And if I don't, then I don't. Right now I feel good.
"I am aware that in some of my recent photos I look somewhat unhealthy, but that's what illness can do. I'm not going to worry about that, I'll rest when I'm dead."
Morrissey has suffered from numerous health concerns over the last couple of years including an ulcer, double pneumonia, food poisoning and a respiratory infection and this latest news will no doubt be a source of huge concern for the singer's legions of fans across the globe.
Morrissey is currently on tour promoting his most recent album 'World Peace Is None of Your Business' and will play a date in Dublin's 3Arena on 1st December.
