Not so long ago, Chris Martin was discussing how Coldplay's last album 'A Head Full of Dreams' was the closing of a chapter, leading many to speculate that the band may be splitting - or at least taking an extended break.
Now, he has clarified his comments in a new interview with Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 radio show.
He said that he'd be surprised if there was another 'conventional' Coldplay album, but that didn't necessarily mean that it was the end for the band.
"I’d be surprised if there was another conventional Coldplay album," he said. "I just feel like we’re right where we’re supposed to be right now. I meant what I said to you a couple of years ago I feel like this is a closing chapter of something. I stand by that I’m afraid."
He added: "I don’t think we’d split up as a band so hopefully we’ll try to work out something to do at some point. But also part of me right now just feels like yeah seven albums, that's great and they form a kind of circle and they all make sense to me now and I feel really proud of them."
Coldplay are set to headline Glastonbury next month.
