An Elton John biopic was being touted as far back as 2011 - but now it seems that it's edging ever-closer to actually being made.
'Rocketman' will see 'Kingsman' star Taron Egerton in the role of the legendary singer, with Deadline reporting that Paramount Pictures are close to sealing the deal on the film, which will be directed by Dexter Fletcher (who is currently directing Queen biopic 'Bohemian Rhapsody').
Coincidentally, Egerton and John have previously shared the silver screen together in 'Kingsman 2' - and now the young actor will portray him in his life story. It covers his time in the Royal Academy of Music through his rise to global superstardom and his enduring songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin, and is said to be an "unvarnished rock ‘n’ roll biopic with John’s life stripped back of the glitter."
Production is set to start this summer, and apparently Egerton's voice bears a remarkable resemblance to John's - which will come in handy, as he's set to sing the songs in the film himself.
