Interpol are currently working on a new album and aim to release it in 2018, according to a spokesperson for the band.
The New Yorkers' last record was 2014's 'El Pintor', but the follow-up is "due for release through Matador Records in 2018" with the band "currently working on new material in their native New York”.
However, they will be taking some time away from the studio later this year when they embark on a 15th anniversary tour for their debut album 'Turn on the Bright Lights'.
They announced UK and European dates for the tour the other day, but some Irish Twitter users claim that the band had prematurely tweeted a video naming 'Stradbally' as a stop-off, before hastily deleting it.
If true, it would mean them playing Electric Picnic on September 2nd as they have London and Manchester dates either side of it. However, this has yet to be confirmed and the first names for Electric Picnic don't usually appear until around March - so we will have to wait a while to find out.
