While an Oasis reunion may still be a possibilty in the distant future, it looks like it won't be happening for a while yet - mostly because Liam Gallagher has just confirmed the release of his solo album.

Gallagher was rumoured to be working with the likes of Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid on an album, and now it's been confirmed that his solo debut will be out in 2017 via Warner Bros.

In the much-quoted new edition of Q magazine, he said “The melodies are sick and the words are fucking funny. Sounds well tasty. You won’t be scratching your chin. It’s not Pink Floyd and it ain’t Radiohead. It’s chin-out music.”

Although his last band Beady Eye broke up in 2014, he was at pains to point out that he was "not embarking on a 'solo career'", however. Maybe he needs to do what his brother Noel did, and get a backing band together and call them 'Liam Gallagher's..... Low Flying Turds"?
