Morrissey has been advised by doctors to immediately end his touring career due to a series of health setbacks suffered by the former Smiths man, but Moz says he is resisting advice for now to cease doing "the best thing you can do in life."
Last week Morrissey was forced to call a halt to his North American tour after being diagnosed with severe pneumonia, his latest health scare in recent times which has also included a bleeder ulcer and Barrett's oesophagus.
Speaking to Reactor 105, a Mexican radio station, Morrissey said: [I] had a very bad time. I had internal bleeding was rushed into hospital, and I lost a lot of blood. They tried to patch me together over the following five weeks, but it didn't quite work, and I was on a lot of IV drips for almost five weeks, and each time it seemed as though I was back to robust health I would decline."
Moz developed anaemia due to blood loss which, in turn, led to serious strain on his immune system. "The slightest gust of wind and I would have a terrible cold", Morrissey explained. Not only that, Morrissey went on to explain that his health insurance has been exhausted by his health woes. "I've had so much medical attention [that] we couldn't actually continue anymore, because we weren't insured to contine."
Could this be the end of Morrissey as a touring entity? Let's hope not, the great man's contribution to music over the last three decades has been immeasurable.
