The Foo Fighters have cancelled their UK and European tour due to Dave Grohl's recent leg break following advise from doctors.

Grohl broke his leg after falling from the stage last week in Gothenburg, Sweeden, and while he managed to brave through the pain and finish that gig, his doctors have required the band's frontman to take a break from touring to let the injury heal.

The news broke tonight on the band's Twitter account, along with a message to the fans from Grohl, in which he apologised to those who had bought tickets to any of the shows.

"I’m really so sorry, guys. You know I hate to do it, but I’m afraid it’s just not physically possible for me at the moment. We’re doing our best right now to work out a plan, so bear with us. You know we’re good for our word. But for now, I need to make sure we have YEARS of gigs ahead of us".

That's a very small segment from a very touching letter that we'd recommend giving a full read. Funny, considerate, and genuinely disappointed about the news, it's not hard to see how he's often held aloft as the nice guy of rock'n'roll.

Get well soon. Dave!
