Unfortuately for fans of timeless pop around the world, it doesn't look like ABBA are ever going to reform at this stage.
However, there is a unique alternative on the horizon that offers the next best thing (or at least something close to it) - a Virtual Reality experience with the band.
The band have teamed up with record mogul and businessman Simon Fuller (aka former Spice Girls manager and the man behind Pop Idol and American Idol) to create an 'immersive' VR experience - with more details to be announced in 2017.
All four members of the band are involved in the creative process, with Benny Andersson saying in a statement: "We’re inspired by the limitless possibilities of what the future holds and are loving being a part of creating something new and dramatic here. A time machine that captures the essence of who we were. And are." His former bandmate Anna-Frid Lyngstad added: "Our fans around the world are always asking us to re-form and so I hope this new Abba creation will excite them as much as it excites me!”
More and more musicians are beginning to hop on the digital bandwagon, including Bjork, whose new digital exhibition includes an impressive VR element.
It's difficult to see how this could possibly trump an actual reformation of the band, who split in 1982 - but we remain open-minded...
