The three nominees for the BRIT Critics' Choice Award were announced just the other day, and saw Frances, Jack Garratt and Izzy Bizu battle it out for the accolade.

Previous winners have included Sam Smith, Adele, James Bay, Florence & the Machine, Ellie Goulding, Jessie J, Emeli Sandé and Tom Odell.

Joining them is this year's winner Jack Garratt, so you can expect to hear a lot more of him if that list is anything to go by.

The 24-year-old treads a line between balladry and electronica, like a more accessible/mainstream James Blake - and his debut album 'Phase' is released in February.

He said: I am so humbled to have received this year’s Brits critics’ choice award. To have been nominated alongside Frances and Izzy Bizu was already a huge honour and a testament to the calibre of new UK music. To have been given this award is truly mind-blowing, considering I am one name in a hugely exciting time for music in this country. Thank you to everyone who voted, it means so much to me.”

Garratt will receive the award at the BRITs on February 24th.
