Elton John has been admitted to hospital in Los Angeles where the singer has been diagnosed with a serious respiratory infection, according to his publicist.
The 65-year-old singer became ill while performing his Million Dollar Piano show in Las Vegas' Caesar's Palace last weekend and was admitted to hospital in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
John's publicist continued: "Those tests resulted in the attending Cedars-Sinai physician ecommending that Elton not perform any concerts for approximately seven days with complete rest and antibiotic treatment to cure his respiratory infection and prevent any damage".
Shows scheduled for Today, Saturday and Sunday have been cancelled.
"It feels strange not to be able to perform these 'Million Dollar Piano' concerts at The Colosseum. All I can say to the fans is sorry I can't be with you", John was quoted as saying.
Gossip site TMZ has reported that Elton John has since been released from hospital.
