Fancy cycling your way to Electric Picnic and making a few quid for charity in the process? The RaboDirect Tour de Picnic has been officially launched today.

What's Tour de Picnic, you may ask? It's the annual charity drive - or more accurately, charity cycle - that gets Picnickers on their bike, cycling from Dublin to Stradbally all in the name of a good cause.

Now in its seventh successive year, the initiative has already raised over €1.2 million for charity and the funds raised in 2015 will go to The ISPCC (Childline), Special Olympics Ireland and The Irish Youth Foundation.

It was launched this morning in Dublin by Jennifer Maguire, Bernard O'Shea and Keith Walsh (pictured above).

You can register to cycle this year at rabodirecttourdepicnic.com now. You'll need to put down a €50 deposit to secure your place, and you must raise a minimum of €150 before Friday, June 19th (next Friday) to secure your place, as demand is very high for places.

If you sign up after June 19th, you'll need to pay a deposit of €150, which will count as part of your fundraising total.

In total - whatever deposit you pay - you must raise a minimum of €380 before the final deadline of August 14th to take part.

What do you get in return? Apart from a glowing sense of achievement and goodwill, you'll get a weekend ticket for the festival, your gear will be transported, you'll get a return bus and bike transfer home, snacks, a private party on arrival and a Tour de Picnic kit.

For those who are more into running than cycling, there's a 15km run also available to participate in.

Sign up now, or get in touch with [email protected] or 01 497 9337 if you have any questions.
