In case you missed it, Ed Sheeran made an exciting announcement yesterday to get us all excited for the new year.
The artist’s last album (which featured hit singles like ‘Sing’, ‘Photograph’ and ‘Thinking Out Loud’) was released in 2014 and while he hasn’t been making any new music, he has kept himself busy through the year between performing at weddings, visiting kids at hospitals, and accidentally getting cut with a sword by Princess Beatrice (owch..).
The 23 year old singer also wrote this year’s X Factor winner’s single, ‘When Christmas Comes Around’, which debuted at number three in the UK charts.
Fans of the singer-songwriter should now be delighted to hear that he’ll be releasing a new song this Friday. Ed announced the news via a short video on Twitter:

Between that and his reported return to social media, it looks like we’ll be seeing more of Ed Sheeran doing what he does best – singing, song writing, and just being a gent – in 2017.
