Rumours that Bruce Springsteen will play two dates at Croke Park this summer have quickly gathered momentum over the last 24 hours.

According to The Herald, a 'source' has confirmed that the gigs will be announced this Friday by "a well-known American musician whose songs include ‘Born in the USA’ and who appeals to all ages."

Springsteen's alleged two dates have yet to be confirmed by promoters - but if true, they come on the back of The Script's hometown headliner at Croke Park on June 20th, fulfilling the maximum quota of three non-sporting events per year permitted by the GAA. It was Garth Brooks' insistence on a five-night run last summer that was ultimately his undoing.

'The Boss' last played Dublin in 2012.
