Just when you thought it was safe...
Blazin' Squad had been consigned to 'ha ha, remember them' status in the annals of music history, but it seems that the London group are going for a second round of their 15 minutes of fame.
The 10-piece pop/r&b/rap group - Kenzie, Freek, Rocky B, Melo-d, Reepa, Krazy, Spike-e, Flava, Tommy-B, Plat'num and Strider - who formed in 2001 and had hits with songs like their cover of Bone, Thugs-N-Harmony's 'Crossroads', 'Flip Reverse' and 'Love on the Line', are getting back together for a tour and possibly releasing new music.
Why, you might ask? It's all down to group member Marcel Somerville, who you might have seen on Love Island, the series that's taking UK and Irish television by storm in recent weeks. He has piqued interest in a reunion and they're already booked to play a festival next month.
Another member, Ollie Georgiou, told Metro: "It will be the original line up, obviously there’s 10 of us. I’m not sure if all 10 of us will be doing it, but there will be a good chunk of doing it.
“It’s been a long while since a lot of us have been on stage and toured. Fingers crossed! We’ve had the offers from promoters so hopefully. If it can come together then all good.”
He added: "If we do do a tour and and start getting it all together then there will be new music. We wouldn’t rely on old stuff and a lot of it would be done by Marcel because he’s very creative.”
