Great news for Christy Dignam, Aslan and their legion of fans this afternoon after an official statement posted on the band's Facebook page has confirmed that Dignam is responding well to cancer treatment and is "on the mend".

Dignam was diagnosed with the disease earlier this year after seeking medical help for what was assumed to be a chest infection, forcing the band to pull a scheduled date in Dublin's Olympia Theatre on St. Patrick's Day.

The statement from Aslan today reads:

"To our friends, our fans, and the media,

We would lake to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support, well wishes, kindness and understanding over the last challenging ten months. We feel your support has helped carry us to where we are today and for that we are truly grateful.

Christy has returned from the UK with the good news that his treatment is working well and he is now on the mend. There is still a long way to go with the recovery process, BUT, this good news has really given us all the best possible start to 2014.

With such promising news, we hope this means that we will see you all stage side later on this year!"

Great news, we're sure you'd agree!
