The weekend is almost upon us, and maybe you're in search of something to soundtrack it – or perhaps you're just on the hunt for some new music.

Every Friday, we'll choose three great new release songs you should hear (from both Irish and international acts) point you in the direction of the bands or artists who created them, and send you on your merry way to investigate further.

ELLIE GOULDING FEAT. LAUV – 'Slow Grenade'

She recently announced her new album 'Brightest Blue' is scheduled for release later this month, and now Ellie Goulding has unveiled its latest single. With the album set to be broken into two halves – a 'personal' collection of songs, and a bunch of collaborations – this tune, featuring US artist Lauv, is the last single from the latter. We're liking its easygoing pop groove a lot.

DAITHI – 'Safety First'

We really enjoyed Daithi's album 'L.O.S.S.' last year, and now the County Clare native is back with new material. Actually, this track is taken from the soundtrack of a new short film that he has scored, called 'Drifting', which stars one Paul Mescal. The EP of the same name is out now - but just listen to how this gorgeous electropop tune glistens and chimes.

MABEL & AJ TRACEY – 'West Ten'

This isn't the first time that these hot properties of UK music have teamed up; rapper AJ Tracey previously featured on a remix of Mabel's 2016 song 'Thinking of You'. This garage-tinged pop number is the perfect way to kick-start your weekend, though.
