The weekend is almost upon us, and maybe you're in search of something to soundtrack it – or perhaps you're just on the hunt for some new music.
Every Friday, we'll choose three great new release songs you should hear, from both Irish and international acts, point you in the direction of the bands or artists who created them, and send you on your merry way to investigate further.
DUA LIPA FEAT. MADONNA & MISSY ELLIOTT – 'Levitating'
She's already released one of the best (or the best, let's be honest) albums of the year – but what could make Dua Lipa's 2020 even better? Only enlisting a pop icon and a hip-hop legend for the remix of 'Levitating'. This track injects the laidback album track with a dose of clubby steroids that puts pep in its step, and it's absolutely brilliant.
PILLOW QUEENS – 'Holy Show'
We're very excited about the imminent release of this Dublin band's debut album 'In Waiting' next month. Until then, songs like this exhibit a different side to the quartet after the indie-rock bustle of 'Handsome Wife'. 'Holy Show' is altogether more considered and softer-edged, a slo-mo heartthrobbing ballad that unexpectedly bursts into life. The video is great, too.
THE KILLERS – 'Dying Breed'
One of the biggest bands in the world return with their new album 'Imploding the Mirage' next week – after a long delay and several tantalising morsels in the form of singles 'Caution' and 'Fire in Blood'. The latest track from Brandon Flowers and co. is another soaring anthem that (once again) pays tribute to Bruce Springsteen, a man never far from their musical notebook.
