Just when you thought they might have run out of ideas for reality TV, someone dreams up something new.
The latest X Factor/Pop Idol-type show will see contestants portrayed as their 'dream avatars', using motion capture technology.
It's called 'Alter Ego' and is set to premiere on US network Fox in the coming months - and what's more, they've roped in some big names for the judging panel.
Alanis Morissette, Will.i.am and Grimes will be on the judging panel, as well as former boyband star Nick Lachey, and it will be hosted by US TV/radio personality Rosci Diaz.
A spokesman for Fox said: "Alter Ego merges talent and technology to revolutionize the singing competition show in only a way Fox can do. We are so excited to bring the fantastic will.i.am, Alanis, Grimes, Nick and Rocsi together as they search for the next big singing star, allowing incredible vocalists a chance to realize their dreams and perform like never before.”
The show, according to the Hollywood Reporter, will see unknown singers “from all walks of life whose singing dreams were never realized" as they “become the performer they’ve always wanted to be.”
If it all still sounds too bizarre to picture, you can see a taster of what's to come below:
