Marcus Mumford and his, em, sons woke up to good news this morning. The UK band's second album Babel has obliterated Justin Bieber's record as the best selling new album of the year. Bieb's Believe sold upwards of 374,000 copies in June of this year but Babel has sold over 600,000 copies since its release last month, ushering the folk-rockers to the summit of the Billboard 200 chart.

Elsewhere, Madonna somehow sold 359,000 copies of her frankly rubbish MDNA album , while Pink's The Truth About Love shifted 280,000 units.

Why not delve into the EI archives and listen to our Podcast with Ben and Marcus from Mumford & Sons recorded at the start of the summer, where they discuss the plans for Babel with me.
