People's minds have been blown by the MSG Sphere in Vegas lighting up for the first time

U2 will open the new venue in September

It was described in the press release as 'the world's most state-of-the-art venue', but it looks like the MSG Sphere really has to be seen to be believed.

U2 are set to open the unique venue with their 'U2: UV Achtung Baby Live' residency, which (so far) runs to 25 dates from September to December 2023.

After some testing in recent days - which made its way onto Twitter - the sphere was officially lit up for the first time for the 4th of July celebrations - and it is pretty mind-blowing, to say the least.

The 'exosphere' of the spherical building is comprised of 1.2 million "LED pucks" which can display various different graphics, and it is the world's largest LED screen.

Even amid the Las Vegas skyline, it is a pretty remarkable sight:

The venue is set to cost a whopping $2.3 billion and will open on September 29th - perhaps with an image of Bono's head?

As for what it looks like inside? We have yet to see images from the interior, but you can guess that the 17,500 seater (with capacity up to 20,000) will be special, with "4D multi-sensory technologies such as immersive seating, evocative scents and changing temperatures, to take experiential storytelling to an entirely new level."

The good news is that if you can't afford to travel to Vegas to see it in real life, the company behind it are planning a similar venture in London.
