Sacrebleu! We thought France had somewhat of a liberal culture but apparently that doesn't extend to their taste in music videos, given today's news that music videos by Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears have been deemed unsuitable for pre-watershed viewing on television.
According to a report on Sky News, the French broadcasting watchdog Conseil Superieur de l'Audiovisuel has stated that broadcasters can only play Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball' and Britney's 'Work Bitch' after 10pm to shield the nation's youth of the horrors of human flesh, apparently.
In Miley's case, 'Wrecking Ball' has been deemed too sexually explicit while Spears' 'Work Bitch' shows the singer in "a sadomasochistic universe representing womena in a way that risks shocking many viewers".
What happened to you, France? You used to be cool.
