A senior Russian politician has called Madonna a 'moralising slut' on twitter after she expressed her support for the Russian punk band 'Pussy Riot'.
Dmitry Rogozin, a deputy prime minister wrote' With age ever former s. Tries to lecture everyone on morality. Especially on overseas tours'. The 's' stands for the first letter of the Russian word for 'slut' When challenged on his comments Rogozin then went onto say 'Either take off the cross or put on pants'.
Madonna took the opportunity to show her support for the band at the Moscow leg of her MDNA tour where she wore a banaclava and had 'Pussy Riot' stamped on her back and openly prayed and asked for the girls release. The controversial tour was scheduled to go to Saint Peterburg last night were US officials were warning attendees to 'stay vigilant' as the concert was subject to terrorist threats. It was expected that she was going to speak out about anti gay laws which had recently enacted in the city.
Russian Orthodox church are also said to have spoke out against the tour with one priest urging believers to call in bomb threats in order to disrupt the concert. The tour has been marred with controversy since it kicked off and recently Elton John claimed the tour was a 'disaster'.
