Ian Watkins, lead singer with Welsh rockers Lostprophets, is currently under suicide watch as he awaits trial for charges related to 23 sexual offences.

The Independent is reporting that Watkins appeared via video link at a pre-trial hearing at Cardiff Crown Court earlier this week, where his barrister told the court that a clinical psychologist had recommended that he be relocated from prison to a psychiatric hospital and that he should be put on a course of anti-psychotic medication.

Watkins is alleged to have been involved in a string of child sex offences, including rape, dating back to 2007.

"He has been seen by a clinical psychologist and she believes he should be receiving anti-psychotic medication", Watkins' barrister said, before detailing that he is currently on suicide watch five times an hour every day.

Last March, Watkins issued a statement denying all charges. "Mr Watkins furiously denies all of the charges and allegations made", his solicitor said. "He intends to fight to the bitter end to clear his name. He wishes to thank the fans, family and friends for the constant love and support they have given and continue to give throughout this testing time."

Watkins' trial will being on November 25th and is expected to last around a month.
