17-year-old New Zealander Lorde has implored radio stations to stop playing her breakout hit 'Royals', as per reports on Stuff.co.nz.
The singer, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O'Connor, has been the recipient of global success since the track dropped last year but it seems she's keen to not be typecast as a one hit wonder.
Speaking to V-Magazine, the singer said: "I want to let people stop hearing Lorde on the radio all the time because it's kind of crazy at the moment. I'd like to give people a little bit of breathing room before I unleash something different."
The singer, who has been burdened with all sorts of 'voice of a generation' tags since her debut, has also kicked back against this huge level of expectation - with one publication even going so far as to refer to her as "the Nirvana of now".
"Oh come on", she said. "I'm sure so many people will read that and be like, f*ck off!"
Sounds like she's got a decent head on her shoulders, this one. She'll be just fine.
