There's been a long-running campaign for their to be a Kurt Cobain museum, much like Johnny Cash and Elvis have had their homes turned into tourist attractions and pilgrimage sites for fans. Well, Kurt Cobain's family are hoping to do the same. The house, bought by Cobain's parents in 1969, is up for sale for a whopping $500,000. However, it was last valued at under $65,000.
Kim Cobain, Kurt's sister, has said that the family are moving away from Washington and would like to work with whomever buys the house to "create a legacy." It's not stated whether Courtney Love, Cobain's wife, is interested in getting involved or what her thoughts are, nor has his former bandmates Dave Grohl or Krist Novoselic commented on the idea of a museum for Cobain.
Throwing it out there - we think it's a nice idea, but it's a bit tacky. Cobain was pretty much anti-celebrity from day one and we're not really sure if he'd be all that pleased about the idea if he were still alive. Still, we can't fault his family for trying to make the best of it so, good luck to them.
