Little Mix's version of Damien Rice's 'Cannonball' is the lowest selling X-Factor winning single since 2004. The group, who were victorious in the X-Factor finale two weeks ago, still managed to shift more copies of the song then the rest of the top 5 added together, selling approximately 210,000 copies. This seems to be quite a respectable figure but is still less than half of what Matt Cardle sold last year. Shayne Ward is the most successful X-Factor winner of recent times, selling 742,180 copies in the week after he won in 2005.

There was more bad news for X-Factor when it was revealed the television audience for this year's finale was almost four million lower than last year's. Is Simon Cowell's stranglehold on the British pop industry loosening? Time will tell on that one, we suppose.
