It's been seven years since R.E.M. split, and with no reunion in sight any time soon, fans have been left wondering whether frontman Michael Stipe would ever get around to releasing solo material.
Stipe has made several solo live appearances over the years, but now it seems that finally, some new original music may be on the way.
He shared a snippet of a song called 'Future, If Future' on Instagram over the weekend, before the 'March for Our Lives' demonstrations took place.
Although he released some instrumental compositions for MoogFest last year, this is the first time we've heard his voice on what sounds like a vaguely electronic soundtrack. There's no word on a release date as yet, but stay tuned.
