Three very different but nonetheless solid tracks to get you ready for the weekend below, as we sample some new music from Kylie Minogue, Canadian rapper Drake and the reclusive (and long dead) English songwriter Nick Drake.
Kylie Minogue has confirmed that 'I Was Gonna Cancel' will be the next single from the diminutive Aussie's twelfth studio album Kiss Me Once. Kylie told Rolling Stone: "I had a meltdown on day two in the studio, but that gave way to a fantastic song ('I Was Gonna Cancel'), which will be my second single." And the tune was written by Pharrell Williams, so it's likely been sprinkled with whatever fairydust he sold his soul to the devil to acquire.
Drake has unveiled his newest song 'Days In The East', produced by PARTYNEXTDOOR and also features Drake's pal Noah '40' Shebib. The song features Drake rapping about having tea with Erykah Badu. Enough said.
And now, as they say, for something completely different. A brand new track from Nick Drake will be released to acknowledge the 40th anniversary of the musician's death from an accidental medication overdose in 1974. The song, called 'Reckless Jane', was written by Drake and his friend Beverley Martyn in the months before his death. Martyn recently completed the song, telling the Independent she "couldn't even think about the song for so long because it brought up so much pain. It took a while to finish after that point."
