One thing that Macklemore certainly doesn't do is subtlely.
The rapper and his sidekick Ryan Lewis have written tracks about social issues in the past and now they've shared a brand new song about the opioid 'epidemic' in America. It's the second time in recent years that they've tackled prescription pill addiction, following references to it in songs like 'Otherside' in the past.
Their new track is called 'Drug Dealer' and has lines like "My drug dealer was a doctor, doctor/ Had the plug from Big Pharma, Pharma" and namechecks stars who have died of opioid or alcohol-related deaths, including Prince, Amy Winehouse and Michael Jackson.
The song was written for a new documentary being fronted by Macklemore, aka Ben Haggerty, called 'Prescription for Change: Ending America's Opioid Crisis' which aired on MTV in the US last night and sw him discussing the topic with Barack Obama.
