Isn't this the sort of news which would put you in pleasant humour at this time on a Friday evening? Rumours have been traversing the interwebs for some time that LCD Soundsystem frontman/genius James Murphy would be producing the next Arcade Fire album.
This rumour seemed to have a little substance to it, too, because of the fact that Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem have toured together before and are friends - the Canadian band even make an appearance in the excellent LCD Soundsystem documentary Shut Up And Play The Hits - and now it seems that there's some confirmation that something has happened.
Arcade Fire's manager Scott Rodger has confirmed that Murphy is working on "three or four songs", but that they have "two albums worth" of material on the go - roughly 35 songs.
When asked if he was producing the next Arcade Fire album by the Huffington Post some time ago, he responded by saying: "that's not necessarily true". Now that non-committal sentence is starting to make more sense.
