This week's LCD Soundsystem shows are among the growing number of gigs being cancelled due to the cloud of volcanic ash from Iceland that is still preventing flights from entering the country.

LCD Soundsystem mastermind James Murphy and his band were set to play two shows in Tripod tomorrow and Wednesday night. However, the they are now stranded in California following this weekend's Coachella festival, and will be unable to make it to Ireland. LCD Soundsystem and POD are working on rescheduling the dates as soon as possible and will announce new dates later this week. Original tickets will be valid for the proposed new dates or, refunds can be claimed from point of purchase.

Meanwhile Aussie rockers Powderfinger have been forced to postpone what was to be their last ever gig in Ireland, at Vicar St tomorrow (Tues 20th). The group are to disband following their current world tour, but have rescheduled the Irish date for Monday May 31st.

Other postponed shows include Grant Lee Phillips' show scheduled for the Sugar Club tomorrow night, and Wednesday's Whale Watching II show at the National Concert Hall, featuring performances from Nico Muhly, Valgeir Sigurðsson, Sam Amidon and Ben Frost.

We expect to hear of more gigs cancelled or postponed over the next couple of days, so we'll keep you posted right here.

Those disappointed by the LCD Sounsystem cancellation can console themselves, if only slightly, with this brand new video for the track 'Drunk Girls', taken from their upcoming album 'This Is Happening' due for release on May 14th
