KISS are a band known for their extensive range of licenced merchandise - from lunchboxes to mugs to baseballs to toilet seats - heck, you can even buy a KISS coffin, if you want to.
It seems that frontman Gene Simmons is trying to further boost his bank balance, however, as the rocker is attempting to patent the iconic 'devil's horns' hand signal, best associated with the metal scene.
Simmons claims that he was the first to use the gesture in a commercial and entertainment space - during KISS's 'Hotter Than Hell' tour in 1974 - and has filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office demanding that he be recognised as its owner/originator.
Now that's rock 'n' roll... not. What next, Paul McCartney trying to patent 'thumbs-up'?
