After her decision to step down from her long-running role as a judge on 'American Idol' and the end of her Las Vegas residency last year, it was only a matter of time before Katy Perry unleashed her next venture.
Thankfully for fans, she's throwing herself back into music and has announced new album '143', which is due for release in September.
Perry's last album was 2020's 'Smile', which was her least successful album, commercially, to date. She has been teasing new music since first announcing it in June on TikTok, and the album's first single, 'Woman's World', will be released tonight at midnight GMT.
As for the title of the album? It's not just a random number, and people of an older persuasion who were familiar with pagers in the 1990s may recognise it - it's code for 'I love you' in pager-speak.
"I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message," Perry said in a statement. "
The album will be released on September 20th.
